Trace Elements: Selenium, Arsenic, Molybdenum, Tungsten, and
Chromium

The Trace Elements are mostly essential nutrients at very low concentrations, but can be
very toxic at higher concentrations, and chronic over-exposure may be linked to cancer
and other health problems. Harmful amounts of Arsenic, in particular can be found in
many aquifers.

Analysis of these trace elements is included in the Complete and Ultimate packages,
and can also be ordered separately under the “additional chemical tests” menu.

If dangerous concentrations of any of these trace elements is found in your sample, you
should not use that water for drinking or cooking until the problem is solved.

What to do about it?

Specialized filtration cartridges may be needed to remove arsenic and other trace ele-
ments. Alternatively, another source of drinking water should be used.
